Are you ready for a little history lesson ? All right,
here it is.
About seventy years ago a man named Howard Carter had a
dream. Against all odds, he sought to discover the lost
tomb of the young Egyptian Pharoah, Tutankhamun. With the
financial aid of Lord Carnarvon, he struggled for years to
achieve his goal. He never gave up.
Picture this. The date is November 26, 1922. An
excited Howard Carter is kneeling on the gritty stone at the
base of a recently uncovered stone stairwell. In front of
him is a blank wall, concealing a doorway that has been
sealed with the royal cartouche of the boy-king,
Tutankhamun. In his hands, he holds a hammer and chisel.
Patiently, he begins chipping away at the wall, punching a
small hole through it and into the room beyond. Finally, he
breaks through a hole about ten inches in diameter.
